My interest in horticulture began at the age of 14 ,when I started a weekend job at a well known local plant nursery. After leaving school, I studied commercial horticulture at Hadlow College in Kent. After leaving college, I worked on a plant nursery for several years growing herbaceous perennials.
I soon realised ,that as much of my free time was spent putting plant combinations together for form and colour that garden design was to be my real passion.
I studied with the late John Brookes at Denmans in West Sussex ,before completing a course at the English Gardening School. I then worked as the designer for a nursery in Sussex for several years before setting up on my own.
For the last 20 years my husband and I have run Lamont and Lawrence Garden Design. I design the gardens and provide planting and advice, whilst my husband, Rob, along with a small team of men, run the construction side of the business.
We are used to creating all sizes of garden, from small courtyards to large estates. We like to have an initial meeting with the client to discuss what you would like and this is always free. We can offer a full layout design or a small area of the garden. Planting plans and advice can also be given.
After a discussion to understand your requirements, we will then provide you with a quotation for the plans. Once the garden design or planting plan has been approved by the client, a detailed quotation for the work will be provided.
I have worked with many clients for a number of years and excellent references can be provided if required.
